Hi again friends and family,
Thanks for spending the last two hours watching the show with me. I obviously did not make it on the show. I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone until after this show aired. You all have NO idea how much work goes into auditioning and how long the process really is. I am not allowed to speak much about the process but I will say that I had a BLAST. The producers were so FUN. I met a lot of really great people. My audition went really well but I was not what they were looking for. They told me that I belonged in a singing group like the Dixie Chicks. They were really nice and I am so glad that I tried. I don’t know if I will try again next year but I am sure you will hear about it if I do. I am bummed that you all couldn’t see my audition… thanks again! Lots more to come this year.
I love you all,
Jo
Dear friends and family,
Some of you may have heard through the grapevine that this past summer I auditioned for American Idol, some of you are hearing about this for the first time. While I am not yet allowed to comment on how it went, I can tell you that my audition took place in Savannah, Georgia and if you would like to turn on the T.V. and catch my face *hopefully*, tune in to Fox tomorrow night (1/18/12) and see how it went. Hopefully I am not made fun of or they don’t chop up a bunch of footage to make me look silly! I have no idea what this will look like, I will be seeing it for the first time with you. Let me know if you can see me!!!!
Xo,
Jo
P.S. If you would like to know what songs I chose to sing:

Quick update! Things are great here in Virginia. I’m super excited for the actual shoot. The next few days I get to start putting together my favorite sets for the video. The picture above is a tiny little sneak for one of those sets.
Hope y’all are grand and I’ll try to be around more and maybe upload something not strawberry related, ha.

For those of you interested in the life of JoAnna Lynne here is a quick update of things that are going on (Not like I don’t tweet enough)…
Tuesday and Wednesday Chidori and I took a little trip down to Low Watt studios in Raleigh, NC to do a little touching up on some background harmonies for the new record, and I sang a couple of lead vocals, “Follow You Down” and “Long Ride”. I finally got the inspiration for the second verse of “Follow You Down”, it was really nice to work that out in the studio.
“You run through my hair, with your fingers/I’m running through your heart running through your mind/Pulling all of the strings just right/Learning how to steer this kite/ somewhere up there your heart still lingers/ love me and I’ll fall/ love me and I’ll fall/ Love me and I’ll follow you down”
That song is going to be a kick ass finish to this record, I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!
On the way home Chidori and I were driving behind Chris Cloud and Danny Rogers (They came down to film us in the studio) and realized that our car had a flat. I kept looking around for a motorcycle so that I could make up another reason for the noise other than having a flat tire, but the smell of burning rubber sort of trumped that idea. We pulled off at the next exit which turned out to be in the middle of nowhere… no lights… not a damn gas station for miles. We pulled into a random driveway and Danny changed the tire while Chris filmed and I held Chris’s phone to use as a light. Chidori and I sang happy birthday to Danny, at one point Chris and I broke out into song “Yatta Yatta sue itchy guys uh uh” Danny hands me the lug nuts and there was a whole reenactment of the “Fuuuuuudge” scene from A Christmas Story. It was a fun time, even Chidori helped change the tire…. It was nice to see the stars through the unpolluted sky. We made it home around eehhh 4am
The next day was mostly spent sleeping, I did a little bit of writing on “Wrecker” and another one to be titled.
“I’m no wrecker/Don’t hand me a bag of stones/Cause you’re living in a house made of glass/I’m no wrecker/don’t hand me a bag of stones/my hear is not made of that/and I’d rather be alone/I’m no wrecker…”
And today I wrote a song that started:
“I made my castle out of brick”
I am getting ahead of myself… so Thursday night was a fun night, I spent it talking and listening to new music and the sounds of the rain and drinking tea, all and all a beautiful moment.

“I should have let that happen, that would have been good”
“You probably should have”
Defective Robot. Shame.
I felt ill for most of Friday, good thing for Pepcid. I had a show for the Sea Level Singer Songwriter Fest Friday night, I played for about an hour and a half which I never do. There were quite a few people there that never get to see me play so that was really nice.
I hung out with Lauren and Alfredo for the rest of the night and fell asleep there due to a strange situation that should not be discussed publicly. Lauren and I both fell asleep while she was reading to her son Christian, it was funny.
The next morning I awoke to more drama, but I had to leave it at home to drive to NJ with Chidori. We played a show at the oh so wonderful Barrington Coffee House. These people are like family to us, and it is always a great feeling to play there. At the end of the night Jack (The cool dude from England that we played with) was leaving and I was inspired to write a song… I wrote the chorus to “Come Back Jack” On the way home we stopped at a random gas station on 95 and bought what we thought was going to be the most awesome thing ever “Cheese Jerky” it was not. Actually I threw that out today cause it melted in my car. Chidori also bought “Muddy Bears” apparently they are chocolate covered gummy bears… gross. I still haven’t gotten her review.
Yesterday I spent most of the day sleeping on Chidori’s couch after the drive. We got in at 6am! Later that afternoon I dropped by my BFF Kristen’s house and we went and did girly things. I had my toes done to look like “Rows and rows of little red strawberries” bringing the strawberry obsession to a new and exciting level. They are super girly and cute though.
Spent the night last night listening to a music playlist that I named ‘The night that tea and pie rained from the sky” and discovered just how much I love Fleet Foxes. Still listening to The Middle East as well.
“I was following the pack
all swallowed in their coats
with scarves of red tied ’round their throats
to keep their little heads
from fallin’ in the snow
And I turned ’round and there you go
And, Michael, you would fall
and turn the white snow red as strawberries
in the summertime”
<3
And to wrap it all up… I did some writing today as I mentioned before, this one is called “Queen” at least it is right now…
There is a meeting tonight about the arrival of a one Miss Jenyffer Maria on Saturday and the music video that you will all be seeing this June.
The album is soooo close, I can taste it…
Stay tuned for next week!
Jo
This album has consumed me for the entire afternoon. I forgot about it.
The Middle East:The Recordings of the Middle East: “Lonely”
We have material minds
And restless hands
Longing hearts
And lonely beds
But we purchase stuff
And work too hard
Use our heads
And fill our beds
What’ve we done
What’ve we done
And we’re left with wretched hearts
And mangled minds
Concrete feet
And beggars lies
But we live our lives
On broken earth
We need repair our eyes (?)
To kiss the dirt
What’ve we done
What’ve we done
But what do you do when you’re out of touch, what do you do?
And how do you live with a conscience so caught up, how do you live?
Oh what do you do when you’re out of touch, what do you do?
And how do you live with a conscience so caught up, how do you live?
Oh what do you do when you’re out of touch, what do you do?
And how do you live with a conscience so caught up?
So caught up
So caught up
So caught up
So caught up
So caught up
So caught up
So caught up
